As in previous years a Writing Competition was held and prizes were offered for prose and poetry in two categories; age 11-14 and 15-18, on one of three subjects: It was the best of times, it was the worst of times; Please Sir, I want some more; This is a world of action, and not for moping and droning in.

The quality of the entries was high and as usual the judges had a difficult choice. Lady Hatch kindly agreed to give out the prizes at the Festival closing ceremony on Sunday 20th May in Chalfont St Giles Parish Church, and Gerald Dickens was on hand to read the prize-winning entries: we are most grateful to both for their help.
