Sir Barry Jackson is a retired consultant surgeon. He worked at St Thomas’ Hospital, London specialising in intestinal surgery. He is a past President of both the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Royal Society of Medicine. He held the appointment of Serjeant-Surgeon to the Queen for more than ten years.
In retirement he has an interest in medical and military history and has lectured widely on the medical and nursing aspects of the Crimean War.
